How do I “get in” the series, and how is the champion determined?

While attending any one of the events automatically enters you into the series, you need to complete at least three to qualify for the championship.

The Arizona Gravel Series champion is determined by the category rider who has amassed the most points at the end of the series. 

What are the SERIES categories?

Race results will be categorized by age, distance (short, medium, and long), and gender.

Age groups for the Arizona Gravel Series are:

• U29

• 30-39

• 40-49

• 50-59

• 60+

*SingleSpeed and E-bike results will only be separated by gender (no age grouping or distance distinction).

*Chino FUN grind is not part of the series. If you want to compete in the short course category and are planning to race the Chino Grinder, you have to race the fine grind.

How are series points awarded?

Points are awarded ten deep by finishing time and series category at each event. 

• 1ST- 100 PTS

• 2ND- 90 PTS

• 3RD- 80 PTS

• 4TH- 70 PTS

• 5TH- 60 PTS

• ETC.

I noticed the individual events have different age categories, how does this impact the distribution of series points?

SERIES points are distributed based on finishing time relative to other riders in the same SERIES category. (NOT the category/finishing position in the individual event). 

What’s up for grabs, (besides major bragging rights)?

1st place for each category receives a championship jersey and comped entry to ALL RACES in the 2026 series.

2nd and 3rd place receives a series shirt and ONE comped entry to the Arizona Gravel Series event of their choice for the 2026 series.
